Privacy Policy

What We Collect

When you use HireBench, we collect and store three categories of data:

Account information. If you create an account, we store your email address and name from your sign-in provider (Google, GitHub, or email magic link), your access tier (Free or Pro), and your account creation date.

Practice data. If you are signed in and complete practice sessions, we store the interview questions you practice, the answers you submit, the AI-generated feedback and scores you receive, your follow-up conversation history, and overall session reports. This data powers your dashboard, your history page, and (for Pro users) JSON and PDF export of your practice history. We do not use your practice data for analytics, for benchmarking against other users, to train AI models, or for any purpose other than providing the features you use directly.

Usage counts. We count daily AI question usage to enforce free-tier rate limits (three questions per day for free accounts; unlimited for Pro). For anonymous visitors, we apply the same limit per IP address during an active session; we do not create a persistent user record from an IP address. These counts store only the number and date — no question content or answer text is stored in usage counters.

What We Do Not Do

  • We do not analyze your practice content for product analytics. Your answers, scores, and feedback are stored so you can review them, not for platform-wide analysis.
  • We do not use your answers to train AI models, either our own or third parties'. Answers sent to Anthropic for evaluation are processed under a zero-retention agreement.
  • We do not share your practice data with other users.
  • We do not sell your data, and we do not use your practice data for advertising.
  • We do not use tracking cookies. We use browser localStorage only to store your authentication session and local practice history.
  • We do not store uploaded resumes. Resumes are parsed in memory during a session and never written to disk.

Data Retention

Your account and practice data remain in our systems as long as your account is active. When you delete your account from the Dashboard, all associated data — profile, sessions, question results, usage counts, and feedback records — is removed from our primary database. Backup copies held by our hosting providers (Supabase, Vercel, Render) may persist for a limited period as part of their standard disaster-recovery practices, after which they are purged.

How Your Data Is Protected

  • All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest (Supabase managed encryption).
  • Row-Level Security (RLS) ensures you can only access your own data. No user can view another user's sessions, scores, or profile.
  • Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth with industry-standard OAuth 2.0.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. Your practice data is used only to provide you with interview feedback and track your progress.

We use the following third-party services to operate HireBench:

  • Supabase: authentication and database hosting
  • Anthropic (Claude AI): generates questions and evaluates answers. Your answers are sent to Claude for evaluation but are not used to train AI models.
  • Vercel: frontend hosting
  • Render: backend hosting
  • Google Cloud: text-to-speech for voice features

Deleting Your Account

You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from the Dashboard. This removes your profile, all practice sessions, scores, and usage data. Account deletion is immediate and irreversible.

Cookies

We use localStorage to store your authentication session and local practice history. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics cookies.

Your Rights (CCPA / California Residents)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) provides you with additional rights:

  • Categories of personal information collected: identifiers (email, name from your sign-in provider); account metadata (access tier, account creation date); internet or other electronic network activity (the questions you practice, the answers you submit, the AI feedback you receive, your session scores and reports, your daily usage counts).
  • Purpose of collection: to provide interview preparation services, track your progress, and manage your account features.
  • Right to know: you may request what personal information we have collected about you.
  • Right to delete: you may delete your account and all associated data from your Dashboard, or by emailing us.
  • Right to opt-out: we do not sell personal information. See our Do Not Sell page.
  • Non-discrimination: we will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights.
